Although big lists of mistakes are useful, they can also be a bit overwhelming. If you want to know the most common and the biggest mistakes to avoid, this is the list.
1. skipping the makeup trial
Yes, it is costly but no, you shouldn't save your money on this. Make sure to schedule your makeup trial because, otherwise, you will be stressing before wedding about it and risking disappointment with the makeup on the day of the wedding.
2. having an unrealistic expectation
My dear brides, I know it is easy to get caught in unrealistic expectations inspired by magazines or Pinterest, but you should know this: you are not supposed to have flawless skin or to look like someone else. Don’t feel pressured to have a perfect appearance: your fiancé loves the real you and that is all that matters! Sure, a little bit of makeup is fine and if it gives you confidence it is perfectly normal, but don’t overdo it and make sure it doesn’t make you unrecognizable.
3. not using a waterproof mascara
Just think about all the happy tears and how unhappy they look with completely ruined makeup. Don’t let it happen! No matter whether you are a bride or a maid of honor, a bridesmaid or a guest, make sure your makeup (but most importantly – mascara and eyeliner) is waterproof.
4. not having an extra lipstick
First of all, ask your makeup artist (after the trial) what shade of the lipstick you will be wearing so that you (by ‘’you’’ we really mean “your maid of honor’’ 😊) will have it in your purse/emergency kit. Trust me, after all the sipping, kissing, eating, hugging…you will need it.
